ART AID is pleased to announce our appointment by Barings as the public art curator for The Mastery, a new mixed-use precinct now taking shape at 44-48 O’Dea Avenue in Waterloo. The project-managed by Neoscape - will deliver more than 400 apartments across five buildings, complimented by new dining and retail precinct, and publicly accessible streets connecting toward the future Waterloo Metro.
Following site research and early planning, ART AID has invited Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse to take on the role of lead artists for the precinct’s public art program.

Milne & Stonehouse bring a long-standing practice grounded in material clarity and thoughtful responses to place. Their work will be developed in line with ART AID’s curatorial theme “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” - a framework that acknowledges Waterloo’s industrial past, its rapidly changing present, and the emerging identity of this new inner-city neighbourhood.

Across the coming stages of design, the artists will shape a series of integrated artworks that sit within the public realm of The Mastery, to be delivered as the precinct approaches completion in 2029.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the project and art strategy progresses.
